What can an AI agent do with
Online payment links on invoices?
This lets the app add payment services to Xero. A payment service is a web link, with its own Pay Now button text, that customers can use to pay your online invoices. Xero only gives this permission to certified partners.
How to spot it
On a Xero connection or settings screen, this is paymentservices.
With it, an agent can
- Create a payment service with its own payment web address.
- Set the text on the Pay Now button in Xero online invoicing.
- Add a payment service to an invoice branding theme, so its Pay Now button shows on invoices that use that theme.
- See your existing payment services.
What a bad day looks like
If misused, a payment link on your online invoices could send customers to the wrong place to pay.
Set it up safer
- Only allow this for payment providers Xero has certified.
- After connecting, open a test online invoice and check where the Pay Now link goes.
Ask the company selling the agent
- Are you a Xero certified payment services partner?
- Where does the Pay Now link send my customers, and who holds the money?
- What fees apply to each payment?

Thinking about a specific agent?
Tell us what it connects to, what it is allowed to do and who approves its work. You get a plain-language label of what it can touch and what to ask the seller. It takes a couple of minutes, and your answers stay in your browser unless you choose to post a test job.
Or have a person go through the AI apps on up to 3 of your business services with you and get a written report, for $249.
This page explains what a permission allows. It does not describe, test or rate any product. Permission details are summarized in our own words from the provider's documentation, linked on the page; providers change their documentation, so check the source before you rely on a detail.
