Read your Shopify Payments account?
It can see your Shopify Payments account, including balances in each currency and your payout schedule.
How to spot it
On a Shopify connection or settings screen, this is read_shopify_payments_accounts.
With it, an agent can
- See your Shopify Payments balances
- See your payout schedule
- See the name shown on customers' card statements
It cannot, on its own
- It cannot send payouts or move money
- It cannot change your bank account
What a bad day looks like
If it is tricked, it could reveal how much money your store is holding and when it gets paid out.
Set it up safer
- Only grant this to agents that do bookkeeping or cash reports
Ask the company selling the agent
- Why do you need to see my payments balance?
- Do you store my financial data, and for how long?
