What can an AI agent do with
Edit existing orders?
It can edit orders that were already placed, such as the items, quantities, discounts, and shipping lines, and save those edits. Only items that have not been fulfilled yet can be edited. If the total changes, the customer may owe more or be due a refund.
How to spot it
On a Shopify connection or settings screen, this is write_order_edits.
With it, an agent can
- Change the items and quantities on an existing order, for items not yet fulfilled
- Change discounts and shipping lines on an order
- Save those edits to the original order, with the option to notify the customer
It cannot, on its own
- It cannot cancel orders with this permission alone
- It cannot edit items that have already been fulfilled
What a bad day looks like
It could remove items or change discounts on a real order that the customer never asked to change.
Set it up safer
- Grant read_order_edits if it only needs to look at edits
- Ask for an approval step before it saves any order edit
Ask the company selling the agent
- Does the customer get told when it edits their order?
- Can I review edits before they are saved?

Tell us what it connects to, what it is allowed to do and who approves its work. You get a plain-language label of what it can touch and what to ask the seller. It takes a couple of minutes, and your answers stay in your browser unless you choose to post a test job.

This page explains what a permission allows. It does not describe, test or rate any product. Permission details are summarized in our own words from the provider's documentation, linked on the page; providers change their documentation, so check the source before you rely on a detail.
